We are restricted to the
number of students we can enter at the District Track Meet. In order
for a child to qualify for an event, he or she must first meet the standards
set by the District Track and Field Committee. These standards apply to all
Coquitlam Elementary Schools. We will
not enter any student incapable of meeting the district standards.
If the number of students who meet the
standard for a particular event exceeds the limit, we will select the students
with the stronger performances. For example, we can enter a maximum of four grade 5 boys in shot put. If six
grade 5 boys can throw the shot put past the standard, the top four boys
will be selected. We will also be monitoring the students’ attitudes and
behaviour during Track Attack. Students who are not able to meet our
expectations of sportsmanship and fair play will not be selected.
The
students who will represent our school at the District Track Meet will be
notified with a notice. At that time, parents
of these students will be asked in a letter to help with the transportation
of our students to and from Percy Perry Stadium in Coquitlam.
